Disney’s new Lightening Lane Single and Multi Pass options at WDW Florida.

By the time you have read this, Disney may have decided to introduce further variations on their ever complex ride reservation / ticketing options. However, as of 24th July, genie+ and Lightening Lane will be re-branded as:

1) Lightening Lane - Single Pass

Purchase up to 2 selections per day, in advance - some options include Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron. You can also pick available times ahead of your visit.

2) Lightening Lane - Multi Pass

Purchase for 1 theme park per day and select up to 3 experiences in one theme park ahead of your visit. After using 1 selection you can check the app for availability and make an additional selection.

Apparnetly, genie+ is changing because guests said they wanted more control over their planning - it will make it easier than getting up super early to be on-line when lightening lanes open and should allow you to better plan your day. Lets wait and see.

The options at this stage are not free or offered as a perk for those guests staying deluxe or on a specific deal. That’s not to say they won’t do it in the future but I wouldn’t hold your breath. However, guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels, will be able to make their selections 7 days in advance (this will be for your whole stay if you are staying for 14 days). Click here to read our guide to Disney Resort Hotels here to see which one will be the right choice for you.

All other park visitors will be able to make choices 3 days in advance of their visit.

You should also note - guests will be able to select their experiences and times ahead of purchasing the Lightning Lane option of their choice. At least you should be able to see what is available before committing to paying for it.

Pricing is expected to vary by date and park.

AND ONE LAST CAVEAT - if you’re an international guest, so from outside the US, you won’t be able to reserve or plan until you’re in the country. Disney haven’t given an explanation for this yet so how many phones will be out upon landing????? Or maybe you could try a VPN. Let us know how you get on.

That’s all on the new system for now but as always we’ll keep an eye out for developments and update this blog post and whether or not it’s introduced at DLP.
